Home Brewing

-Intro to Home Brewing class

This class is intended to introduce the basic concepts, equipment and practices of small-batch home brewing to novice brewers and those interested in the craft.

Come learn the history of fermented drinks while being introduced to the fermentation and beer-making processes. This class includes several demonstrations of equipment, ingredients, techniques and beer styles.

When: Wednesday, February 19
Time: 5:30-8 p.m.
Where: NSU Tahlequah Campus
Fee: $15*
*This is a dry course. No alcohol will be served or consumed during this course. Must be 21 or older to participate. Ethical and legal standards will be followed in teaching this class. Seating is limited

-Full Brew-Day Workshop From Boil to Bottle

This all-day workshop will feature a full demonstration of home brewing techniques, including the live brewing and bottling of special batches of beer. The first half of the day will include the brewing, chilling, and pitching of yeast on an original mini-mash batch. After lunch, a batch brewed prior to the workshop will be used to demonstrate bottling practices. Reference materials including instructions, suppliers, hints and tips will also be provided. Don’t miss this chance to see the home brewing process from start to finish in one day!

Crisis Readiness

Are you Crisis Ready? This program provides skills, tools, and strategies
for readiness in any situation. This series will cover topics including:

»» Family Protection
»» Situation/Safety Analysis

Students will also receive training and certification in AED, First Aid, and CPR through the American Red Cross.

R.A.D.® (Female Self-Defense classes)

The mission of the R.A.D. Systems is to establish an accessible, constantly improving and internationally respected alliance of dedicated instructors who provide training opportunities for women, men and seniors in the art of self-defense. These courses are designed to teach participants the appropriate way to respond when faced with potentially dangerous situations

Safety Awareness

How can I keep myself and my family safe? Personal Safety is YOUR responsibility. Knowing how to keep yourself safe and to avoid becoming a victim of crime is critical, no matter where you work or live. This class will teach you how to be alert and aware of your surroundings, how to discourage a potential threat, and what to do if you find yourself in a dangerous situation.

Safety & Awareness for International Travelers

Whether you are planning to travel internationally for vacation, missions, research, etc., this class provides some tips and strategies to help prepare you for your time abroad and keep you and your family/team safe. This class is taught by world travelers who know the ins and outs of traveling to a new country and have the know how on staying out of dangerous situations.
