American Academic ESL Program

Due to the rapidly growing international interest in Northeastern State University, institutional English language study at NSU is an integral component of supporting students, visitors and scholars from around the world.

The Program

The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) has authorized NSU to offer Language Study at the university and offer official university I-20s for Language Study. This Language and Cultural Center (LCC) ESL Program is fully accredited and located on the NSU campus adjacent to the Office of International Programs. Faculty of the program are certified, native English speakers with many years of experience. Students will receive an official NSU transcript showing ESL course credits and an official certificate after completion of the program.

Campus Life

Students enrolled in the LCC ESL Program have an easy transition to NSU degree programs. Students live on campus in NSU residence halls, are provided meal plans and have access to NSU campus resources such as the library, the fitness center, writing labs, 24 computer labs, international advising and more. 

Conditional Admission

The Office of International Programs at NSU welcomes applications for students interested in conditional admission to Northeastern State University's undergraduate and graduate programs in addition to students interested in short term ESL classes at NSU's LCC.

There is no minimum English proficiency score required for admission to the program.

Community ESL Classes

Conversational English

Through guided conversations, this course engages students through an engaging, fun, and easy-to-use format. Students are encouraged to move beyond the textbook to create conversations on their own.

Foundations of the English Language

Foundations is an all-skills, standards-based program for beginning-literacy and low-beginning learners of English. Students prepare for the demands of today's world as they learn basic English for essential life skill situations.
