Diverse Voices

Culture and identity are different things to different people, but the one thing we can know for sure is that it is this uniqueness that makes our world such an interesting place.

It's this richness and diversity we want to capture at NSU. We want YOUR story! We want to know what makes you tick, who and what makes you, you. We want you to record a story or two about yourself, and send it in to us. You can discuss whatever it is that has influenced you the most in life, or you can consider answering some of the following questions:

- What makes you unique?

- What stories have your family told you about your culture?

- What groups do you identify with?

- What values are important to you, and where do they come from?

- What is different about your original culture compared to the culture you are in now?

- What hobbies do you have?

- What would you like people to know about your beliefs?

- What does diversity mean to you, and how important is it in our society?

Whatever you have to say, we would LOVE to hear from you. These stories will be a part of a unique repository of educational resources, which will be used to help train teachers and librarians. The stories will also be available for teachers to show students, so they can see the diverse mix of people who attend college after high school. Sometimes, the most important message we can get as human beings is that we are not alone.

You can record your story via webcam, Skype, Smartphone, audio voice recorder, or any other recordable devices. You can either edit your own story, or you can send it to us as is, and we will assist in the editing process with you.

You can email your stories to us at projectimready@nsuok.edu, or via our Facebook page www.facebook.com/projectimready. Alternatively, you can upload your file onto a private or public page of YouTube, where we can share the link. If you have any problems with the process, please email us at the address above and we will be more than happy to help.

Different cultures are not limited to different countries and heritage- religion, ancestry, interest groups, and many, many more make NSU the interesting and exciting population it is.
