Have a great idea for a story? Learn the writing foundations and fundamentals that will help you put your thoughts onto paper. As you refine your story, you will collect images and pictures that go along to illustrate it. By the end of the week you will have your own book--made, written, and illustrated by YOU.
Art Adventures
June 25-29
Ages 4-8
This camp will offer students the opportunity to hone their creative talents through visual arts. Campers will produce multiple projects during the course of the week. The synergetic teaming between the camp instructor and the campers benefit both by exposing our campers to a vibrant, innovative arts and crafts curriculum while at the same time giving our instructors valuable teaching experiences. Outdoor play and field trips to various on-campus locations enhance the camp experience.
The Art of Faces and Places - Digital Photography Camp
June 25-29
Ages 8 and up
Beginner and Intermediate
Campers are introduced to an array of digital photographic techniques used in a studio and on location. The "faces" component of the program emphasizes the art of capturing life in motion on camera. The "places" component for the program reminds students to never forget where they are. Campers will spend more time exploring and capturing images of NSU's campus than in the classroom. Campers will learn how to properly use their own digital cameras and have the opportunity for hands on experience with DSLRs.
Campers should bring a digital camera each day to the camp. The camp will provide a few cameras but bringing your own guarantees shooting everything.
CSI-Tahlequah
Crime Scene Camp
July 2-6
Ages 8 and up
Campers will become a forensic scientist for a week analyzing the evidence gathered from a fictional crime scene, gathering and comparing finger prints and shoe prints, making molds, conducting handwriting analysis, analyzing mystery powders and gathering clues to capture the suspect.
Pastry Wars
July 2-6
Ages 10 and up
Think you have what it takes to make outstanding cupcakes, cakes and pastries? Campers will work with secret ingredients and challenge each other to design and create gourmet pastries with input from special judges. This class is limited to 20 campers.
Storytelling Part 2: The Magic of Theatre and Movies
July 2-6
Ages 8 and up
Do you like to see plays or watch movies? Learn how the different elements of film and theatre help to tell a story. Write your own story, make costumes and props, and put on your own play. You don't need Storytelling Part 1 to have fun in this class.
Sculpture Camp
July 9-13
Ages 8 and up
This very creative summer camp will take students through the process of designing a masterpiece. Summer campers will enjoy fun-filled days learning the art of sculpting. Campers will spend the day with other students creating their own scluptures and playing games.
Kayaking Camp for Kids
July 9-13
10 and up
Campers will spend four fun-filled days on the river learning about river and water safety. This camp will help build paddling skills, confidence, and an appreciation for the beautiful area we live in. At the end of the four days they will feel confident in a kayak and we will paddle a six mile float on the beautiful Illinois river. The bus will depart NSU at 8:30 a.m. (in front of the University Center, circle drive), Monday - Thursday and will return to NSU by 4 p.m. On Friday they will skate and go to a movie. This camp is offered through NSU, hosted at Hanging Rock, with guest instructor, Ed Fite with the Oklahoma Scenic River Commission. $150.00 per child (lunch, snacks and water are provided)
Iron Chef Kids-Italian Academy

Ages 10 and up
Campers will focus on Italian cuisine, customs and culture. Each camper will work in small groups and be responsible for creating and cooking their own menu, while additionally focusing on etiquette and manners. This class is limited to 20 campers.
Movie Making
July 16-20
Ages 10 and up
Have you wanted to learn the secrets of Hollywood? Learn the process involved in producing a movie. Aspiring film makers will write an original script, direct, film and edit their own movie. Students will be introduced to blocking, lighting, special effects and other areas of filmmaking.
Broadcast Camp
July 23-27
Ages 10 and up
Campers will learn how to research and write stories, read on camera, produce on-location segments, camera operation, audio and lighting, use of green screens and much more during this exciting week of broadcast camp.
Survival Skills for Kids

Ages 8 and up
In the not-so-distant future, we may face environmental disasters, plagues, and diseases that will threaten our very existence! Could you survive if you no longer had the convenience of electricity, food, water, & shelter? As we delve into various novels, we will partner with our book characters and learn survival skills. Come join us as we learn how to battle the elements and survive in the wild!
