The Political Science program at Northeastern State University offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. This program is offered on NSU's Tahlequah campus, although some courses are online or are taught on the Broken Arrow campus. In addition to offering core courses and electives in Political Science and Public Administration the program offers internship opportunities in Washington, D.C., Oklahoma City and in the local community. Students also have the opportunity to participate in two outstanding co-curricular organizations: Model United Nations (MUN) and Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature (OIL).

An article by Dr. Jeonghun Min and Dr. Dan Savage won the Western Social Science Association’s Larry Gould Best Article Award for 2014. The article, "Why Do American Indians Vote Democratic?" was published in the Social Science Journal, Volume 51, Issue 2, in June 2014.
The selection committee noted: "We were very impressed with the scholarship of this article. The authors use original data that they present in a rigorous methodological manner. They write in an easy to understand manner and present findings that are both timely and interesting. It is cutting edge work."
