Biology - Fish & Wildlife

Plan of Study

Biology, Fisheries & Wildlife Emphasis - Bachelor of Science

College of Science & Health Professions, Department of Biology

Biology is the study of living organisms and their interactions. As there are many different ways to study living organisms, there are many fields of study within biology such as anatomy, biochemistry, botany, cell biology, ecology, genetics, microbiology, physiology, and zoology. The department offers courses in all of these areas, permitting students to select courses that will best suit their interests and career goals.

With so much rapid change in biology the career opportunities are excellent. Many of our students go on to pursue further education and higher degrees in Biological Sciences, Dentistry, Medicine, Optometry, Pharmacy, Podiatry, and Veterinary Medicine. Others enter the job market directly as junior high and high school teachers, laboratory technicians, and park rangers.

An Associate of Science or Associate of Arts degree earned from Eastern Oklahoma State College waives the general education requirements with the exception of pre-requisites of the major. All students must have demonstrated English Proficiency to graduate.

Note: The following are required pre-requisite courses for the Biology, Fisheries and Wildlife Emphasis Major and it is suggested/recommended that you incorporate them into the pursuit of your associate’s degree.

  • MATH 1513 College Algebra
  • BIOL 1404 Plant Biology
  • ZOOL 1604 Animal Biology
  • CHEM 1315 General College Chemistry I
  • CHEM 1415 General College Chemistry II
