Dr. Christopher C. Garland, LSW, Ph.D. has been at NSU since 2006 before which he was a licensed social worker in the Guidance program with the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Prior to that he spent 13 years with Child Welfare in Oklahoma and supervised child welfare investigations and service planning. He has a BA in Psychology from NSU, an MSW from OU, and a PhD in Educational Psychology at OSU. Dr. Garland's research interests include critical thinking, cognitive styles, moral development and evolutionary psychology. He has presented research papers about college students' perceptions of learning, a paper examining the relationship between critical thinking dispositions and cognitive styles, and two papers on critical thinking recently. He also has an interest in the aging population and performs consulting work for hospice.
