Dr. Armstrong has a background in public health and legislative advocacy.  A former transplant social worker, Armstrong has a strong interest in health disparities in organ and tissue donation, specifically for Native Americans.  A passionate advocate for health equality, Armstrong also worked for the Missouri Department of Health's Primary Care Resource Initiative for several years prior to entering academia. She enjoys designing and implementing strengths-based community programs that connect college students with marginalized communities, such as the Positive Peers and Reading to Residents programs.  Her research interests include health disparities, positive aging, asset-building/health status, and e-learning.  Armstrong and her husband Nathan have two sons, Jet and Jax, and live in Tulsa.
