The WGS minor supports many of the university’s core values and goals. It promotes an environment of learning and discovery, full inclusion, civic engagement, and it also encourages global knowledge and cultural sensitivity.
- Introduce you to the discipline of women’s and
gender studies
- Teach the history of women’s movements in the United States and other countries
- Raise the global consciousness on to women’s and gender issues, such as health, trafficking, childbirth, etc.
- Integrate the curriculum of the minor into your majors and career choices
- Investigate the way gender intersects with social movements, education, society, history, criminal justice, politics, communication, the arts, family life, and
popular culture
- Encourage activism and other forms of civic engagement around women’s and gender issues
