ACHE Congress Student Trip
The Healthcare Administration faculty have an amazing opportunity for all HCA or HOA students who plan to graduate in 2020. You may have received information on the Study Away course trip to Chicago to attend the ACHE Congress on Healthcare Leadership, if not, attached is an information sheet about the Study Away. The conference dates are March 23-26, 2020.
Attending the ACHE Congress on Healthcare Leadership is an excellent opportunity to learn about the healthcare profession and to network with 4,000 other healthcare leaders. The conference has a special track for student attendees and a student attendees pay a reduced fee. Wednesday, November 13, 2019 is the first day of registration for Congress in 2020!
The amazing opportunity: For students planning on graduating during 2020, the HCA faculty have agreed to let you substitute HCA 4853: Special topics in Healthcare - Chicago Healthcare Conference (3 credits) for both HCA 4951: HCA Capstone (1 credit) and HCA 4992: HCA Practicum (2 credits). If you have already completed HCA 4951, we would substitute the Study Away for HCA 4992 if this fits your degree plan.
HCA 4853 is structured as a regular online course with pre-conference activities, conference attendance, and post-conference activities. Since this is a Study Away opportunity, there are additional fees related to the conference (registration, hotel, food, travel, etc.).
We would like to make the ACHE Congress on Healthcare Leadership Study Away trip an annual opportunity (the conference happens every March in Chicago). However, for now, the Study Away is listed as a one time offering. Although the course may be offered in future Spring terms, at the moment, this course is not guaranteed for future offerings. The HCA Faculty would know by the time the Fall 2020 schedule comes out if the Study Away would be offered for Spring 2021 (for those students planning on graduating in 2021 or later).
Note: In the past, there have been potential opportunities for students to serve as student ambassadors at Congress and/or to receive scholarships from ACHE for attendance. This information is not on the ACHE.org website at the moment, but keep an eye out!
If you have any questions about this Study Away opportunity, please do not hesitate to ask Dr. Peterson at email@example.com!
