Degree Completion and Certificate Programs in CEL focus on both quality and convenience, offering a mixture of accelerated eight-week courses; blended, online and weekend classes; and expanded support services. The Degree Completion and Certificate Program not only offers adults an affordable, customized option to complete a degree or specialize with a certificate, but also serves as a valuable resource for the region’s employers.
As a sub-unit of CEL, the Department of Continuing Education (CE) is designed to carry out the focused mission of the university of creating and sustaining a culture of learning and discovery. This is achieved by offering non-credit community and professional education programs, seminars, and workshops. Through a collaborative approach with academic departments, faculty and civic groups, CE offers engaging, quality and affordable learning opportunities for students and the community at large.
As an integral component of CEL is the Language and Cultural Center (LCC) that offers: English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction in American English; an introduction to American culture; language courses such as: Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, and others as deemed necessary by workforce education and development workshops, cultural events, and activities. This area also houses the Confucius Center Classroom which promotes the Chinese culture and language through program offerings and activities to all students, faculty and staff.
The three areas support the mission of Northeastern State University in graduating students as part of the Complete College America initiatives and by enhancing many individual lives in providing quality instruction, programs, and activities in our service area.
