Welcome from the Dean

Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts at NSU!  We invite you to explore our site for information on our diverse array of programs.

The College of Liberal Arts offers degrees that meet the needs of students with a wide variety of interests, ranging from the disciplines of Criminology, Justice Studies, and Global Security to Art, Drama, and Music.  The College is also home to programs in Social Work, Communication and Media Studies, Languages and Literature, Geography, Political Science, History, and Military Science.  We count it a special privilege to be the home College for degrees in American Indian Studies, Cherokee Education, and Cherokee Cultural Studies, programs that honor the heritage of the Native populations that make up the NSU community.

As you can see, the College covers a lot of academic ground, but the common theme in all the programs is that they produce graduates with critical thinking skills and a deep knowledge of human interaction.  In short, graduates of the College of Liberal Arts are leaders for the 21st century who can adapt in ever evolving social, cultural, and professional contexts.

No matter what academic area you choose to specialize in, we look forward to serving you through general education courses and a multitude of options for minors.  We also hope that you are able to attend many of the roughly 100 music and drama performances, and art gallery events offered by the College every year as part of our commitment to provide culturally enriching activities to the NSU and surrounding communities.

Whether you are with us for general education courses, a minor, and/or a major, the College of Liberal Arts is here to help you achieve your educational goals.  Please contact us if we can by of any assistance.
