Bachelor of Art
NSU Art
The NSU Art Program offers programs leading to BFA degree in Studio Art (2D or 3D)
and Graphic Design, as well as a BA in Art Education. Students can take classes in
ceramics, drawing, painting, illustration, photography, printmaking, watercolor, typography,
web design, sculpture, art history and more! Currently the program is offered on the
Tahlequah campus.
The NSU Art program has grown significantly in the last fifteen years, but our maximum studio class size remains small. Students can expect individual attention and a supportive learning environment. Our faculty place an emphasis on developing strong foundation skills in early classes to prepare students for their future. Advanced classes encourage students to explore their unique vision to help them realize their full potential.
Graduates
Our graduates have found jobs teaching at many of the public schools in the region and as graphic designers for firms as close as Tulsa and far away as NYC. Alumni accomplishments include many solo exhibitions including the State Capitol in OKC. Our alumni have worked as curators and directors of art museums and galleries and program directors and professors at universities. Our graduates have also attended graduate schools around the country.
Faculty
Members of our award winning faculty have exhibited their work in galleries and museums in many major cities in the US and in Europe. They have also had their art published in many national and international art books and magazines.
Location
The art program is located on the main NSU campus in Tahlequah in the foothills of the scenic Ozark Mountains. Several lakes are located in the region and students often enjoy float trips on the nearby Illinois River.
