Sociology Immersive Learning

Internships

The practicum course provides students the opportunity to use the knowledge they obtained in the classroom as they participate in an internship program. Students select an appropriate agency or organization and complete 120 hours of internship for one semester. Sociology students have been placed in social service agencies, religious organizations, and other non-profit organizations.

Research

Upon approval or invitation by faculty members, students have the opportunity to participate in research with faculty within the sociology program. By engaging in research projects with faculty guidance, students may develop skills for gaining knowledge about the social world, beyond the classroom.

Courses

To complete an internship, students must enroll in SOC 4993: Practicum and to participate in faculty-led research, students may enroll in SOC 4911: Independent Study.
