Native American Congressional Internships (Udall Foundation)

The Native American Congressional Internship Program provides American Indian and Alaska Native students with the opportunity to gain practical experience with the federal legislative process in order to understand first-hand the government-to-government relationship between Tribes and the federal government. The internship is funded by the Native Nations Institute for Leadership, Management, and Policy.

National Education Association Internships

The NEA partners with institutions of higher education and other organizations to identify interns – generally juniors, seniors, recent college graduates (up to 18 months) or graduate students– who are interested in public education policy and education issues. The intern program provides interns with training, learning opportunities, and marketable experiences through a variety of rich and substantive programmatic work that support quality public education. These experiences may include conducting research; data analysis; writing, editing, and using Internet applications and social media; participating in and assisting with meeting and policy forums; visits to Capitol Hill; and other appropriate program-related activities. The internships range from six weeks to a full semester.

Oklahoma Summer Policy Institute

The Summer Policy Institute brings together more than 50 highly-qualified undergraduate and graduate students for an exciting and stimulating four-day learning experience. SPI offers participants a unique opportunity to become better informed about vital Oklahoma policy issues, network with fellow students and leaders, and prepare for their future studies and work in policy-related fields. The Institute is hosted and led by the staff of OK Policy, a Tulsa-based think-tank that produces timely and credible information, analysis, and ideas on state policy issues, guided by core commitments to the fair and adequate funding of public services and the expansion of economic prosperity for all Oklahomans.

The Institute is open to any undergraduate or graduate student at an Oklahoma college or university who has completed a minimum of 24 hours of college credit. Participants in the Institute are chosen by a competitive application process aimed at selecting students with strong academic training, diverse experiences, and a clear interest in the study and practice of public policy. Particular emphasis is given on selecting a class of participants from a range of educational institutions, fields of study, and geographic and cultural backgrounds.

The City of Tahlequah

The City of Tahlequah works with NSU to identify interns who are interested in local government. The mayor’s office provides interns with training, learning opportunities, and marketable experiences through a variety of work related experiences.
