Frequently Asked Questions
Individuals earn certification by successfully completing two courses,
- The first course, LMS training, covers the "How To's" of using Blackboard through a series of technical tutorials followed by objectively scored quizzes. To complete, all module quizzes must be completed with a score of 85% or better.
- The second course, Course Design and Development Training, covers the Best Practices in online teaching and learning through Blackboard. To complete this course, all learning activities must be completed at an 85% or better score.
These courses are required for anyone who teaches any online or blended courses at NSU, and recommended for anyone who teaches at NSU or manages an organization in Blackboard. Having completed Quality Matters training or training at other institutions does not exempt you from this training. Sections or cohorts of the courses will be offered each month.
Yes. All faculty who teach online or blended courses must complete NSU's Online Educator Certification.
To register for the first course, LMS Training, please fill out the Workshop and Event Registration form and rank your top three choices for the month in which you would like to take the course.
To register for the second course, Course Design and Development Training, please go to the Workshop and Event Registration form and rank your top three choices for the month in which you would like to take the course.
You must register yourself. An NSU Online member cannot register you.
Course 1: All module quizzes must be completed with a score of 85% or better.
Course 2: All learning activities must be completed at an 85% or better score.
