- Time: Learners have 6 months from the time of the purchase of the course to when it needs to be completed. These courses are highly interactive and provide students with an enriched learning experience. Each course was developed to ensure that students gain the necessary skills to excel in a professional healthcare environment. Additionally, these programs include access to an online community with interactive content and robust student services.
- Course Contact Hours: 60 hours. The program prepares students for entry-level positions as a chair-side dental assistant. This course covers the history of dentistry, introduction to the dental office, the legal aspects of dentistry, introduction to oral anatomy, dental operatory, introduction to tooth structure (primary and permanent teeth), the oral cavity; and other areas. The program also includes an optional clinical externship at a local healthcare provider!

The purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice.
This course covers the following key areas and topics:
Administrative Aspects - the history of dentistry and dental assisting; introduction to the dental office; the legal aspects of dentistry; policies and guidelines.
Clinical Aspects - introduction to oral anatomy; dental operatory; dental equipment, introduction to tooth structure; primary and permanent teeth; the oral cavity and related structures; proper patient positioning; dental hand-pieces; sterilization; and other areas.
In addition to entry-level administrative jobs, this course is ideal for students interested in pursuing a future formal Dental Hygienist program.
