In this course, participants learn about developmentally appropriate classroom management strategies for Pre-K third grade classrooms. We will look at the role of room arrangement, center management, large group time, and safe private spaces. Time management, material management, transitions, and routines are explained as well as a variety of strategies for building a positive classroom community. Regardless of how well prepared or diligent teachers are, challenging behaviors will occur when working with young children. Numerous strategies that go beyond turning your card and sitting in time out will be explained for behaviors such as tattling, hitting, biting, whining, and bullying.
