Music Major for a Day

At NSU's Music Major for a Day, prospective music students (including non-music majors) can experience life on campus by attending music classes, receiving private instruction on their instrument from an NSU professor, and rehearsing side-by-side in one of NSU's flagship music ensembles. The day also includes a financial aid session and campus tour.

Registration for this event is open to high school juniors and seniors, as well as family members who wish to join them.

When planning your visit, please note the rehearsal schedules for the following ensembles:

  • Wind Ensemble: Tuesday & Thursday
  • Jazz Orchestra: Monday & Wednesday
  • University Singers: Monday & Thursday

Our 2026-27 Music Major for a Day dates are Monday, November 9, 2026 and Thursday, February 4, 2027.

Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., with activities continuing throughout the day until approximately 6 p.m. A detailed schedule will be provided to registered participants closer to the event date.
