Optometry Exploration Summer Camp

Camp Description

Join us for an exciting hands-on summer camp where students explore careers in healthcare, participate in interactive activities, and connect with faculty and current students.

After the completion of the three days the camper will gain insight into the field of optometry and the science behind optics and eyes. They will also learn more about our program and other career options related to eye care. 
They will also have some time to interact with our optometry faculty, students, and learn more about our optometry program. This may spark the camper's interest in the medical field or a STEM related program.

Camp Schedule

Day 1:
● 8am-8:30am: Introduction/ice breaker/Profession
● 8:30am-10am: Contact Lenses
● 10am-10:30am: Break/Snack
● 10:30am-12pm: How Glasses Are Made
● 12pm-1pm: Lunch
● 1pm-2:30pm: Binocular Vision Olympics
● 2:30pm-3:30pm: Break/Snack/Tour
● 3:30pm-5:00pm: Optics - Light, Lenses, and Telescopes

Day 2:
● 8am-9:30am: How Do We Start An Eye Exam?
● 9:30am-10:30am: Break/Snack/Student Mentorship
● 10:30am-12pm: Do you see what EyeSi? VR Simulators
● 12pm-1pm: Lunch
● 1pm-2:30pm: Anatomy--Cow Eye Dissections
● 2:30pm-3:30pm: Break/Snack/Tour
● 3:30-5pm: Optical illusions/Entoptic Phenomena

Day 3:
● 8am-9:30am: Dispensary - Frame Styling
● 9:30am-10:30am: Break/Snack/Game
● 10:30am-12pm: How We Image The Inside Of An Eye
● 12pm-1pm: Lunch
● 1pm-2:30pm: Laser Of Model Eye
● 2:30pm-3:30pm: Break/Snack/Student Mentorship
● 3:30-5pm: How We Image The Front Of The Eye

Grades: entering 11 through graduated 12 

Date: June 1-3, 2026 

Time: 8:00am-5:00pm 

Cost: $50

Lunch not included. Students will have access to refrigerators to store their lunch. 

Early drop off late pick up available with notification
