Micro-Credentials
The NSU Reading Program offers Science of Reading micro-credentials at both undergraduate and graduate levels, equipping educators with evidence-based literacy instruction methodologies that transform classroom practice. These specialized credentials ensure our graduates possess comprehensive knowledge of reading's fundamental components—phonemic awareness, word recognition, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension strategies—all grounded in current scientific research. With NSU's commitment to excellence and our faculty's specialized certifications in LETRS, Orton Gillingham, and dyslexia therapy, candidates develop practical expertise that directly addresses Oklahoma's growing demand for science-based literacy instruction. These micro-credentials empower educators to assess reading development accurately, deliver explicit phonics instruction, and integrate effective comprehension strategies across the curriculum, preparing them to foster literacy success for all students and ensuring every child develops strong reading foundations essential for academic achievement and lifelong learning.
