Reading Center in Tahlequah

fall_scenics_2008MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Reading Center is to provide its student clients with the tools, the techniques and strategies, and the confidence needed to master academic texts. The basic belief that reading is fundamental to success in academic, professional, and personal lives guides the activities of the Center. Good reading comprehension skills lead to better critical thinking skills and these, in turn, to better writing skills. The Reading Center provides a comfortable environment in which students and reading tutors can work together to discuss the nature and presentation of ideas as introduced in different types of texts. The Reading Center thus functions as a literacy instruction site within the academic community and provides support to students from all disciplines regardless of abilities.
