Northeastern State University recognizes that the cost of completing a professional graduate program includes both expenses billed directly by the university and additional educational and living expenses incurred throughout enrollment. The information below is provided to help prospective and enrolled students understand and plan for the anticipated total cost of completing the Physician Assistant Studies Program.

Program Cost of Attendance

The Physician Assistant Studies Program publishes an estimated total cost of attendance to help prospective and enrolled students understand the anticipated expenses associated with completing the program. For purposes of this estimate, the program uses the university's published off-campus Physician Assistant Cost of Attendance as representative of a typical student.

The Cost of Attendance includes tuition and fees, books, required course materials and PA equipment, supplies, housing, food, personal expenses, and transportation. The clinical-phase transportation allowance includes additional estimated costs associated with travel to assigned rotation sites for a typical student. The program periodically reviews clinical placement patterns to ensure that the housing and transportation estimates reflect the anticipated expenses associated with clinical education for a typical student.

Additional Program-Related Expenses

Certain program-related expenses may not be included in the university's Financial Aid Cost of Attendance. Required or anticipated expenses for a typical student are incorporated into the program's estimated total cost of enrollment when applicable.

Conditional or Optional Expenses

Students may incur additional expenses depending on individual circumstances. These expenses are disclosed for financial-planning purposes but are not included in the program's estimated total cost of enrollment because they are conditional, optional, or may vary substantially based on individual circumstances.

Private health insurance premiums for students who do not already have qualifying coverage*
Federal student loan origination fees for students who borrow
Optional professional memberships
Optional graduation or commencement-related purchases
Additional temporary housing expenses associated with certain clinical rotation assignments**

* Health insurance: Students are required to maintain qualifying health insurance throughout enrollment. NSU does not offer a university-sponsored student health insurance plan. Students who do not already have qualifying coverage may need to purchase an individual health insurance plan. For financial-planning purposes, students purchasing individual coverage should anticipate approximately $450 per month, or approximately $12,150 over the 27-month program. Actual costs may vary based on age, household income, eligibility for premium subsidies, plan selection, and access to other qualifying coverage.

** Clinical rotation housing: The program's Estimated Total Cost of Enrollment includes SCPE-related housing expenses for a typical student based on recent graduate data. Most surveyed graduates incurred no additional temporary housing expense; however, students who required temporary housing for away rotations reported total additional costs ranging from approximately $1,000 to $2,400. Actual costs may vary depending on clinical rotation location, housing availability, and individual circumstances. Students who anticipate or experience substantially higher clinical education expenses are encouraged to contact the NSU Office of Financial Aid regarding available financial aid options.

Refunds and Withdrawals

Tuition and fee refunds are governed by Northeastern State University refund and withdrawal policies. Refund eligibility is based on the date an official course drop or withdrawal is received by the University and the applicable refund deadline for the course or enrollment period.

Students considering withdrawal should review the current University refund and withdrawal deadlines before taking action. Students receiving federal financial aid should also be aware that withdrawal may affect financial aid eligibility and may require the return of federal financial aid funds, which could result in a balance owed to the University.
