Become a Preceptor
Clinical preceptors are an essential part of the education of Northeastern State University Physician Assistant students. By serving as a preceptor, practicing clinicians provide students with meaningful supervised clinical experiences, mentorship, and opportunities to develop the knowledge and skills needed for PA practice.

Preceptor Perks
To recognize the time and expertise our preceptors contribute to PA education, the NSU PA Program offers a tiered preceptor recognition and incentive program.
Tier 1 | 1–2 Students per Calendar Year
Preceptors who accept one or two NSU PA students during a calendar year are eligible for:
- NSU PA Program swag bag
- AAPA Category 1 CME for eligible PA preceptors
- Eligible PA preceptors may earn 2 AAPA Category 1 CME credits per PA student for each 40-hour week of precepting, in accordance with current AAPA requirements.
- Official NSU PA Program Certificate of Appreciation
- Invitations to semiannual NSU PA Program events
- Eligibility for the Oklahoma Preceptor Tax Credit Program, when applicable.
- Eligible preceptors may qualify for state tax credits for supervising PA students. Eligibility requirements and credit amounts are established by the State of Oklahoma and are subject to change.
Tier 2 | 3–4 Students per Calendar Year
Preceptors who accept three or four NSU PA students during a calendar year are eligible for all applicable Tier 1 benefits, plus:
- Consideration for the NSU PA Preceptor of the Year Award
Tier 3 | 5+ Students per Calendar Year
Preceptors who accept five or more NSU PA students during a calendar year are eligible for all Tier 1 and Tier 2 benefits, plus:
- Free or discounted BLS/ACLS renewal opportunities, when available
- Featured recognition through NSU PA Program social media and/or the Program website
